@CanucksFan007: There are plenty of death penalties in the OT, and you say those don’t change, are you really going to be the “pot calling the kettle black”? Think about it before you answer.

Lastly, about the real teachings (not shown on tv) of the LDS church…not what has been hidden, glossed over, or whitewashed”

From Brigham Young, “Shall I tell you THE LAW OF GOD in regard TO THE AFRICAN RACE? If the WHITE MAN who BELONGS TO THE CHOSEN SEED MIXES HIS BLOOD WITH THE SEED OF CAIN, the penalty, under the law of God, is DEATH ON THE SPOT. This will ALWAYS BE SO.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 10, p. 110).

Want more? I got all day!

Apostle George Q. Cannon re: the Journal of Discourses, “The Journal of Discourses deservedly RANKS AS ONE OF THE STANDARD WORKS of the Church…’” Brig. Young said, “I have NEVER GIVEN COUNSEL THAT IS WRONG” and “I HAVE NEVER YET PREACHED A SERMON & sent it out to the children of men, THAT THEY MAY NOT CALL SCRIPTURE”. Your church believes in a pantheon of gods/goddesses, Heav Father has a god above him, he had to LEARN how to become a god & Lucifer is the spirit brother of Christ Jesus.

The ONLY official sources of doctrine?? Really! And NEW doctrine?? “The ONLY ONE AUTHORIZED TO BRING FORTH ANY NEW DOCTRINE is THE PRESIDENT of the Church, who..will declare it AS REVELATION FROM GOD, and IT WILL BE SO ACCEPTED…& sustained by the body of the Church.”(Pres. Harold B. Lee) Can your prophet be wrong? Be truthful! Can Joseph Smith be wrong?? How about Brigham Young? LOOK at who I quoted! Are you even ALLOWED to say they are wrong?? Keep reading! Next comments.

CanucksFan007: Here’s an inconvenient fact–and I will type this V E R Y slowly to make it VERY clear: The four standard, canonized works of the LDS Church are the ONLY official sources of doctrine that is binding on the membership of the LDS Church for belief and practice.

So, in case you missed the point: NONE of the other works you cited in your several posts are official sources of doctrine that is binding on the membership of the LDS church for belief and practice. Got it?

Peace.

Do I have the same views or believe in what the lyrics are saying? No, but I love the music! Its all about the music. Why argue and belittle the beliefs of whos behind the music? Pointless really.

I’m assuming you’re talking about jesus? Heres how I think. I dont care what any body believes. If it isnt hurting anyone then who cares? Why make it an issue? If something is nice to listen to then listen to it. Who cares about the religion or views behind it. Specially when being a christian isnt hurting anyone. I listen to death metal, which has some pretty dark lyrics, even satanic if you will. Its very melodic and dark and I think its beautiful. Am I a satanist? No….

@CanucksFan007; Why is all of this so difficult to comprehend for you?? Because it disagrees with your translated, retranslated, revised, new international version, yet somehow an exact dictation “word of God” bible?

The FATHER is a glorified, perfected, resurrected, EXALTED MAN WHO WORKED OUT HIS SALVATION BY OBEDIENCE to the same laws he has given to us so that we may do the same.” (LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, A New Witness for the Articles of Faith, p.64, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM) “You HAVE GOT TO LEARN HOW TO BE GODS yourselves…the same as all Gods have done before you” (Teachings of Joseph Smith pgs. 346-347)

You accused me of lying…there are the facts! As I said…TEST ME on this

In the beginning, THE HEAD OF THE GODS CALLED A COUNCIL OF THE GODS; & they came together & concocted a plan to create the world & people it. (April 1844, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 349; History of the Church 6:308) Pres. Joseph Fielding Smith said: “OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, according to the Prophet, HAD A FATHER…” (Doctrines of Salvation 2:47)…President Joseph F. Smith taught: “Man was born of woman; Christ, the Savior, was born of woman; & God, the Father was born of woman”

Speculative? Speculative?? Here are the FACTS! “It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God” “We have IMAGINED and supposed THAT GOD WAS GOD from all eternity(5).I WILL REFUTE THAT IDEA, and take away the veil, so that you may see….” “GOD HIMSELF WAS ONCE AS WE ARE NOW, and IS AN EXALTED MAN” (April 1844, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, by Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 345; History of the Church 6:305 JOURNAL OF DISCOURSES 6:3)

I’m sorry to say that to some extend i dont really understand the meaning of some posts. but i believe that beautiful music can bring us from different race, different religious & different colour together. i love Andrea & the mormon tabernacle choir.
they’re the best of the best. why they sing one song only.

mattbeachum : When “King Follet” shows up somewhere in the canonized, standard works of the LDS Church, I’ll consider it binding.

Peace.

Staying with Matthew 5, Canucks, whatever happened to “turning the other cheek”. I guess that part of being a “Christian” would mean you’d have to give up your 170 year old grudges.

Rippinsteo; claiming “King Follet” isn’t “binding” is murky water, be careful.

CanucksFan007: Your ad hominem style attacks on ol’ Joe Smith are unsubstantiated and undermine your credibility. If you are a Christian as you claim, perhaps you’ll want to live up to that moniker and actually follow the admonition of Jesus (Matt. 5:43-44).

Peace.

CanucksFan007: Why do you and others like you lie by conflating and mis-representing speculative, non-canonized doctrines as official teachings of the LDS Mormon church?

Your statements that ‘their god has a god above him, & a god above him etc etc etc.’ and ‘Their god was “also once a MAN” & had to “LEARN how to become a god the same as ALL gods before him had to do”‘ are two examples of speculative doctrines that are NOT now and never have been binding upon the members of the LDS church.

I’m asking you to bear with me for just a moment. Seriously. Imagine you’ve your religion (2000 years old) which you love & cherish & someone comes along, starts up his own religion but says YOURS is “wrong” “corrupt” and “an abomination”! THINK about those words! This man is a liar, adulterer, convicted felon & cheat, then dies BUT his followers continue his religion. They then claim to be of the same religion as YOU except you are still wrong, corrupt etc. Do you accept their music??

why does everything that is beautiful in this world have to be turned into something negative and not seen for what it is. This is so beautiful and has such a wonderful energy/spirit surounding it. Why go and bash a religion. Who cares what the mormons believe. This is about the music and the lovelyness of the sound. If only everyone could just stop trying to convert everyone and on the other side, people trying to put everyones religion down. Believe what you want and stop slamming others

CanucksFan007

Beautiful, beautiful music. Imagine how they’d sing if they followed the true gospel! (No they’re not Christian but sing beautifully. The Mormon jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer, their god has a god above him, & a god above him etc etc etc. Their god was “also once a MAN” & had to “LEARN how to become a god the same as ALL gods before him had to do”. They also taught (changed 1978) that Blacks were not equal with other races & were CURSED with a black skin by God. (TEST ME on this)
