I assuming you are sincere – not winking because you know the answer already:

Melissa is gay, and I think he left it for her to sing, but didn’t let her know he was going to. Bruce is well know for supporting gay rights. This would be his way of showing that support – by letting her sing to “Mary” … but also putting her on the spot jokingly, as many artist do when they work together. Kinda like the way Tim Conway used to try to get Harvey Korman to crack up on the old Carol Burnett show.

@SandyCarlson I never think beauty is all about looks. I was a beauty. I was never pretty. It’s subjective.

Awesome collaboration…Its funny how at about 4:00 in Melissa is in such awe that Bruce has to prompt her to join in for the vocals…classic..Rock Gods would be proud here!

In all fairness, one who’s not a hard-core Springsteen fan could easily mistake the Bruuuce’s for boos, but at 2:42 Melissa sets the record straight, so…

Ahhh, I am dedicating this song to my girl, Paige…we have had a lot of loss and separation and hearbreak in the past 30 years, and espec in the past 30 days…but baby we can still make it if we run….come on baby give me another chance to make it real…

Melissa is the only artist who worthy and can play ANY Bruce song and pull it off.

There are songs like TR and Born To Run, that only a select few should cover.

Hahaha. Yes, that shirt. Remember, when a man loves a shirt, or anything, he’ll wear it until he no longer should. Same with his Dolphins baseball cap.

This is from early 1995, Melissa’s MTV Unplugged.

Beautiful, just beautiful. This song makes me cry.Its my mom’s favorite song by him and it reminds me of her.Her voice is beautiful and the addition of it to this song makes it even better than the originall.I just wish Clarence was their to play the famous sax solo. Then it would be perfect.
