Do you think a lot of people judge Madonna off her early music?
When people talk about Madonna they always jump to her Like a Virgin and True Blue album but really those aren’t even her two best.
You almost never hear Music get talked about which was one of Madonna’s most acclaimed albums. A lot of people say she can not sing which is obviously not true if you listen to any of Evita or Ray Of Light.
So, do you think people tend to just jump to conclusions about Madonna from her earlier music?

I have no idea what the people who judge her are basing their judgment on. How can you tell? I personally like most of what she’s done throughout her career. I love Into the Groove, Like a Virgin, Crazy for you, and dislike Vogue. In my opinion her best album is Ray of Light, the title track being one of my all time favourite songs, and I like Music (the album) too.

I am the age she is now and I think she should not be wearing teenager clothes.
I do like some of her songs- Holiday Into The Groove
Vogue and This Used To Be My Playground

She is judged by Like A Virgin and True Blue because those are her two most famous albums and what she’s primarily known for. It’s the same with every musician.

No, I don’t. They had to rewrite the score for Evita in a register she could handle, and left out a song she didn’t have the chops for, unlike Patti Lupone, who killed the role on Broadway. She really isn’t much of a singer – lots and lots and lots of studio augmentation go into every album she’s done. Her early music, although not great music, had a lot more charm than her later stuff, when she was trying to present herself as a singing talent.

Well… I think, all that people trying to bashing on her, are full of ageism.
She said: ‘A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want. I have had many challenges in my life, including some very big ones when I was young and I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons along the way. I have seen life from just about every angle you can see it from. I never wish I had a different life. I am lucky to be in the position of power that I am in and to be intelligent.
A lot of people are just really confused by me; they don’t know what to think of me, so they try to compartmentalize me or diminish me. Maybe they just feel unsafe. But any time you have an overtly emotional or irrational, negative reaction to something, you’re fearing something that it’s bringing up in you. Not only does society suffer from racism and sexism but it also suffers from ageism. Once you reach a certain age you’re not allowed to be adventurous, you’re not allowed to be sexual. I mean, is there a rule? Are you supposed to just die?’.
People think… Because she’s in her 50’s, she’s not sexy anymore or she doesn’t develops the same passion in her music, as she did at the beginning of her career, when is the opposite. Madonna is full of intelligence and capacity, her present music and future music, is and will be just as great as always has been.

Ha, people are still answering saying Madonna can’t sing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbpuQaSfnfI
Yeah, I think it’s because Like A Virgin is such a karaoke song and so easy to sing along to, and those are her most famous songs. People aren’t really into her newer music, which I don’t understand ’cause I really like it.
