Kings of Leon Tickets-Now Royalty
The Kings of Leon started off their career in a cramped hole in the wall bar in the U.K. These days, the rock band from Columbia, Tennessee can draw in crowds of thousands. Although the band members are originally from the United States, their sound made a big impact on audiences in Europe and the United Kingdom, where they were dubbed part of the “new rock revolution.” It has been a transformation for the group, as they crossed the ocean to make their stake in the American music market, and these days they continue to dominate the airwaves. The Kings of Leon released their first effort, an EP called The Holy Roller Novocaine, in 2003. They followed with their full-length debut, Youth and Manhood, which caught listeners’ attention mainly overseas. They rode on the heels of prominent bands like The Strokes and U2, after strong comparisons were made regarding their musical style and sound. The album spawned the hit songs “Molly’s Chamber’s,” “Red Morning Light” and “Holy Roller Novocaine,” which were all used in multiple video games, movies and television advertisements.
The band followed up their first effort with their sophomore album, Aha Shake Heartbreak. It was first released in the U.K. in 2004 and followed in the United States in 2005. Aha Shake Heartbreak emphasized more of a southern-infused garage rock sound and helped their international appeal with songs like “The Bucket,” “Four Kicks” and “King of the Rodeo.” Their growing success in the music market led to a high-profile tour with notable acts Pearl Jam and Bob Dylan.
The Kings of Leon wasted no time in returning to the recording studio, and in March 2006 they released their third album, Because of the Times. Although the previous records emerged as hits, this was the one that led some critics to describe the group as “one of the great American bands of our time.” The album debuted at the impressive number one spot in the UK and Ireland and entered the U.S. charts at number 25. Because of the Times demonstrated a more mature and polished sound, especially on the hit single “On Call.” Many fans were scrambling to attend one of their concerts, and Kings of Leon tickets would sell out before you knew it.
Only by Night is the band’s latest effort, officially entering the UK Albums Chart at number one with sales exceeding 200,000. Some of the singles include “Crawl” and “Sex on Fire.” They begin touring Ireland and Great Britain this month in support of their newest contribution to the industry and it is reported that they will continue touring through 2009, with stops in the South Pacific.
The Kings of Leon may have started off small, but they have grown and matured into a very present rock band that never holds back the punches. Their melding of southern rock, garage rock, hard rock and blues tunes has set them apart from other bands of today and their originality is constantly praised by fans and critics alike. The Kings of Leon have hit their stride and have certainly earned the title of “one of the greatest rock bands of our time.”
