At face value though she was making fun of fashion and that “it” value, which really is not defined by anything in particular. She’s also poking fun at the fact that even though it’s said to be “designed” by her, it was mostly made by other people, and she admits it and makes fun of it.

The only reason why they could do the ritual of burning witches at the stake, which was really a sacrifice to Moloch, was because they could gather a mass of people to watch. These people would all stand complacent and receive the blame for the horror, which is supposedly eternal fire(fire is multidimensional, soul-consuming element). Much of the “karma” would trickle down several generations of those families who watched it.Without a big audience to blame no sane person would do anything.
