Mothers Little Helper Rolling Stones (w/ lyrics)
Lyrics: What a drag it is getting old Kids are different today, I hear evry mother say Mother needs something today to calm her down And though shes not really ill Theres a little yellow pill She goes running for the shelter of a mothers little helper And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day Things are different today, I hear evry mother say Cooking fresh food for a husbands just a drag So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak And goes running for the shelter of a mothers little helper And two help her on her way, get her through her busy day Doctor please, some more of these Outside the door, she took four more What a drag it is getting old Men just arent the same today I hear evry mother say They just dont appreciate that you get tired Theyre so hard to satisfy, you can tranquilize your mind So go running for the shelter of a mothers little helper And four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight Doctor please, some more of these Outside the door, she took four more What a drag it is getting old Lifes just much too hard today, I hear evry mother say The pusuit of happiness just seems a bore And if you take more of those, you will get an overdose No more running for the shelter of a mothers little helper They just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day (I OWN NOTHING)

@Whitenoise40 inredibly wrong, benzodiazepines do not affect dopamine output like heroin does very well. get your facts straight, heroin is an absolute menace for society

The Stones have been living off their reputation for about 30 years, but hearing this, you can’t begrudge them…

@ysbaddaden2003 You got the characters confused. In Casino Royale, it is Le Chiffre who takes hits from a benzedrine inhaler. Not bond.

@ChristianSchock
James Bond in the books was a benzedrine popper, particularly at all night casino card games.
Of course he also smoked 70 Morland cigarettes a day, and although he wasn’t a drunk,would drink a shot of Jim Beam after being nearly killed, martinis during the cocktail hours, and wine with lunch and dinner.

Damn. Mick Jagger & Keith Richards predicted the prescription pill epidemic. Smart dudes…and as chifour66 says it’s about Milltown (still made today only called Meprobamate) the drug Valium hadn’t been marketed yet… and I can’t see Valium helping her on her way & getting her through her busy day. Shit, she’d be knocked out in bed all day! O_o

Mick sings about prescsription tranquilers/downers probably mild doses of barbiturates like Seconal or Luminal or newer, safer benzodiazepines like Valium or Librium new in the 1960’s. These drugs were actually marketed along with vibrators and soft porn romance books to be a safer alternatives to drinking, overeating for bored, depressed, disenchanted middle class housewives in western countries.

@AtGiza00
right!
it was Valium 5mg (yellow) [2mg white and 10mg blue]
there is also Valrelease(TM) yellow-blue 15 mg.
it is about Benzodiazepine (a group) in general.
Dr.Leo Sternbach (gave the world Librium in 1960. and Valium in 1963.) said -he doesn’t like popping “mother’s little helper”himself. He said it makes him feel a tad depressed.

@chifour66 Ive heard valium 75% of the time, mind you, ive also heard it could refer to dexedrine, or benzedrine, all of which came prescribed as small yellow pills at the time. could be wrong, just a theory. I get the feeling it is about prescription drugs and addiction in general.

Uhhh no. Mothers little helper is a bout a “little yellow pill” Its benzedrine. Or Bennies. They are a stimulant. Hence it helps her on her busy day, makes her feel energetic etc…
