Imagine you are 16 and you just got a guitar. You learn a few old songs and without any real concept, record them. That’s what you have here. … The Stones have lost it!

Why must the Stones overproduce all of their recordings these days (and for the last decade and a half)? Why can’t they make albums like Ya-Ya and Exile anymore? Part of the beauty of the old Stones was that their records were a little bit rough, standing in sharp contrast to the whistle-clean songs of the Beatles. Maybe they should just hire George Martin from here on out.

I first heard the Stone’s version of “Like A Rolling Stone” on some middle of the road radio station and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It had been years and years since I heard a Stones song that I wanted to listen to all the way through. But then it took a Dylan song to keep my interest this time around. “Like A Rolling Stone” rocks and rocks and rocks and does everything a rock n’ roll song is suppose to do. This is one of the best versions of “Like A Rolling Stone” ever made. It has the right balance of energy and sassiness. And the live aspect enhances the performance. The other two songs on the cd that are worth the mention are “Wild Horses” and “Angie” (my two favorite Stones songs). However, had it not been for “Like A Rolling Stone” I would never have purchased this cd. In the late 60’s early 70’s the Stones seemed soooo cool and on top of the world. It’s funny that I now view the Stones like my parents did when I was so enamored with them all those years ago. For sure they still rock, only now they kind of hurt my head when I try to listen to them. Oh well! ps: “Slipping Away” and “Love In Vain” are pretty good. pss: all said and done I’m really glad the Stones were a part of my early years, they really did rock n’ roll like few others!!!

This is a great live album, although some songs are from the recording studio. The better songs include Like a Rolling Stone, Street Fighting Man, Angie, etc. Most of the songs are not well known. Some of the songs are not that great. I skip the last three songs on the album. Otherwise, it’s a great album and you should buy it.

This is a good album, but not great. There’s nothing really bad on it, but nothing really great on it either. I’ve listened to it a lot, but never really thrill at any particular moments. Fun to hear them do “Like A Rolling Stone.” It’s casual music to have a beer to, and have as background music while your playing checkers.
