The in-ear plugs are replacements for stage “monitors” which in the past played the music from the rest of the band back to the singer (and other members) so they could hear the beat and notes. With huge stacks of blasting speakers behind them, they couldn’t hear themselves or the distinct sounds from each instrument, so they needed the monitors to “separate” the sounds. Now this problem is solved with the “in-ear” monitors… the singer hears all the instruments clearly so he can sing in key.

I’m sure Kurt Cobain would have used them if he’d lived to the time when they started using them.

In ear monitors are used by everybody. Why don’t you watch a few more modern concerts and check that everybody is “cheating.” ignorant

so is that why paul mccartney uses them presently?? and how are they cheating?? they are only in your ear so you can hear yourself! so i guess making sure you can hear yourself makes you a cheater? that must be why we must all be cheaters for driving cars instead of getting pulled by a horse because its not as convenient as driving .. btw im a guitar tech and ive toured with bands all over N america and europe and literally any band that can afford them use in ear monitors which is everyone

yes totally, thanks for replying to that guy! this is such a good performance, especially the vocals because they can all hear themselves! it amazes me how thick some people are
