Well said man. It’s labeling that hurts not only music but creative expression as well. Writing songs based on emotion is pretty much the oldest and most popularized form of music. This new generation of emo musicians are just overly feminine and brand themselves emo and it hurts all there predecessors.

The “emo” or “emocore” style of music in itself is not bad. Writing songs with emotion isn’t new, heck, the Beatles did it! I just wish it had a different name so it would stop associating itsself with the emo subculture, which is for whiny little brats. Some of Weezer’s songs may be considered emo (like Pinkerton), but the difference between Weezer and say, Panic at the Disco, is that Weezer doesn’t use their emotion as a selling point they just write good, catchy rockin’ songs.
